Collection Attorney v. Contract Litigation Attorney

Frisella Law Firm has built a niche practice in B2B contract litigation and national commercial debt collection.  This specialty can be confusing.  Many of our clients think of Frisella Law as their collection law firm because we do, in fact, help our clients collect a debt.  But in the legal field, we are known as commercial debt collection attorneys or contract litigation attorneys.  Technically, we are litigation attorneys that specialize in business contract disputes. So, if your business does business with another business (B2B) your collection case falls within Frisella Law Firm’s specialty of commercial business law.  B2B conduct is governed by contract law.  The generic categorization “collection attorney” typically refers to retail collections which is an entirely different practice governed by different laws and different clientele.

Collection Attorney

If your company is a retail business or service with individual people as customers, you would utilize a retail collection attorney and / or collection agency and your collection case would be governed by the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act and other state consumer protection laws and regulations.  Usually, if you are talking to a collection attorney they are in retail collections unless they specifically categorized themselves as specializing in commercial debt collections (like me).

If you aren’t sure what type of attorney you need, let’s talk. Contact us today!
