A quick Google check reveals the origin of the word “deadline” is unclear but likely had to do with an actual drawn line indicating to a prisoner the boundary beyond which they would be shot! Today’s modern use of the word “deadline”, according to the Cambridge Dictionary is: “a point in time by which something must be done.” But I disagree. “Deadline,” in the collection industry at least, is overused and watered down. This is a critical error in collections. If there is no consequence to a deadline then there is no way to truly indicate the final phase of negotiations or final date a payment will be accepted. At Frisella Law Firm, we understand the importance of creating a deadline when collecting a debt. While our deadlines have nothing to do with shooting prisoners, you can rest assured when we present a deadline for negotiations or payment – we will stick to it. It’s the most honest, equitable and reliable way to collect a debt and something you can always expect when dealing with Frisella Law Firm.
